Admin and settings

What administrators can manage in Dafado, described as capabilities rather than screens.

Overview

An administrator runs the Dafado instance. Administration covers the content that gets published, the people involved, and the settings that shape how recordings sound and read.

Managing places and reviews

Administrators can see and manage the places in the system and the reviews recorded for them. This includes reviewing what has been recorded, publishing a review, taking a review down when it breaks the rules, and removing content entirely when needed.

Removal is meaningful. When a recording is removed, its audio is deleted from storage as well as from the database, so a takedown is a real erasure and not just a hidden page.

Audio settings

Administrators control how the published audio sounds:

  • The audio mix. Whether reviews play as the raw recording or as a rendered mix. The mix also evens out loudness between recordings so one review is not much quieter than the next.
  • The music bed. An optional background track that sits under the voice at a set level, chosen by ear to support the speaker without competing with them.

The raw recording is never overwritten. The mix is a separate, derived file, so the music can always be turned off or re-rendered with nothing lost.

Transcript settings

Transcripts are produced automatically from the voice. An administrator can enable a cleanup pass that fixes obvious transcription slips while keeping the original recording as the source of truth. The recording is always the original; the transcript is a machine-made rendering of it and can be corrected.

Language settings

Administrators choose how language is handled for a place. A place can accept any spoken language and let the system detect it, which is the recommended default, or it can be pinned to a specific language. Readers can also translate a published review into their own language with one tap.

Documentation settings

The documentation you are reading is kept in sync from Dafado. An administrator manages that sync, so these pages stay current as the product changes.

A note on identity

Moderation screens show the public name of a review, the same name the public page shows. Deciding whether a recording should stay up does not require knowing a guest's private contact details, so those are kept out of the way.
